Bonita L. Baker, 71, of Leland passed away Thursday, March 20, 2014 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born December 9, 1942 in Aurora, IL the daughter of Meryl and Lois (Chapman) Jacobson. She married Chauncey A. Baker on October 23, 1965 in Hinckley, IL. Bonita was a member of United Methodist Church of Leland. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and watching professional bull riding. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Chauncey of Leland; three daughters, Stefanie Lynn (Ronald) Zimmerman of Malta, IL, Kimberly Anne (Don) Halverson of DeKalb, IL and Dawn Renee (Martin Scheidecker) Baker of DeKalb, IL; one son, Charles Lewis Baker of Leland, IL; seven grandchildren, Jenna, Jaclyn, Renae, Ross, Alexx, Elena and Ethan; one sister, Marcene (Ray) Rothlisberger of Battle Creek, MI; two brothers, Dene (Margot) Jacobson of Round Rock, TX and Brian (Cathey) Jacobson of Santa Barbara, CA.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 24, 2014 at United Methodist Church in Leland with Pastor Jodeen Immer and Pastor Alka Lyle officiating. Burial will follow in Leland Cemetery in Leland. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 23, 2014 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk. Memorials may be directed to Kishwaukee Cancer Center.
