Billy Wayne Thornton, 63, of Sandwich passed away Monday, July 8, 2013 at Valley West Community Hospital in Sandwich. He was born January 17, 1950 in Bastrop, LA the son of Corley and Pauline (Darden) Thornton. He married Sue Graham on October 28, 1967 in Kentucky. Billy enjoyed fishing, cooking, grilling, gardening, and camping. His greatest joy was being with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Sue of Sandwich, IL; two daughters, Julie (Ricardo) Reyes of Millington, IL and Sheila (Christopher) Goodin of Sandwich, IL; four grandchildren, Ricardo (Krystina) Reyes, Jr. of Durham, NC, Roberto Reyes of Millington, IL; Christopher (Katie) Goodin, Jr. of San Diego, CA and Joseph Goodin of Sandwich, IL; two great-grandchildren, Payten Reyes and Jackson Reyes; two brothers, Corley Thornton of MN and Ricky Thornton of IN; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at Burkhart-Eighner Funeral Home in Sandwich with Pastor Jeff Bewley officiating. Burial will follow in Millington-Newark Cemetery in Millington, IL. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until the time of service at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home in Sandwich. Memorials may be directed to the charity of one’s choice.
