Betty Jean Smith, 74, of Somonauk passed away Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at Valley West Hospital in Sandwich. She was born February 2, 1940 in Sandwich, the daughter of Clarence and Ila (Wade) Roche. She married Clifton Ray Dean Smith on March 3, 1962 in Yorkville. Betty was a member of the Reorganized Church of Latter Day Saints in Plano. Betty enjoyed fishing, antiquing, jewelry, crafting and especially her family.
She is survived by one son, Randall Dean Smith of Somonauk, IL; three brothers, Dennis (Carol) Roche of Jessup, GA, Gary Roche of Chicago, IL and Ricky (Julie) Roche of Wautoma, WI; one special adopted grandchild, Vanessa Williams of Somonauk, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one brother, Roger “Rocke” Roche.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 3, 2015 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk with Pastor Derek Johnsen officiating. Betty will be buried beside her beloved husband who is in the photo with her, at Oak Mound Cemetery in Somonauk. Visitation will be from11:00 a.m., Saturday at the funeral home until time of service.
