Betty J. Henrikson Todd, 76, of Ottawa, IL formerly of Earlville, passed away, unexpectedly in her sleep Friday, July 17, 2015. She was born October 29, 1938 in Ottawa, IL the daughter of Truman and Charlotte Brue Henrikson.
She married David “Bud” Todd on August 24, 1958 in Norman, OK. They lived in Earlville, IL for over 40 years, spending the last 12 years in Ottawa, IL. Betty was a long time member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Earlville. She was employed over the years at Marathon Electric, Earlville High School, Earlville Bank and also served as Earlville City Clerk for over 16 years. Betty loved music and sang since she was a young girl, particularly singing in the Church Choir, the Earlville Community Choir and loved performing with several different Sweet Adeline Chorus’s over the last 30 years, being on Sweet Adeline’s International stage 6 separate times. She is survived by her husband David Bud Todd of almost 57 years, her daughter, Susan Bickel & fiancé Richard Kaup of Round Lake Beach, IL, three sons, Barry of Urbana, IL, Joseph of Grayslake, IL and Tom Marie of Abingdon, MD. Five grandchildren, Kendra Mario Mejia of Dallas, TX, Brian Leffelman of Kenosha, WI, Jesse Todd and Stephanie Todd both of Chicago, IL and Elizabeth Todd of Penfield, IL. Three great-grandchildren, Mario and Charlotte Mejia of Dallas, TX and Lane Hanson of Penfield, IL. One sister, Kay Robert Sharpe of Denton, TX, One Aunt Evelyn Brue Roeder, Two uncles, Reuben Brue and Howard Brue all of Ottawa, IL along with numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Larry Henrikson and several aunts and uncles. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 23, 2015 at Immanuel Lutheran Church 415 S. East St. in Earlville, IL with Rev. Tammy Anderson and Rev. Tim Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Precinct Cemetery rural Earlville. Visitation will be 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 22, 2015 in the church. Memorials may be directed to Immanuel Lutheran Church in Earlville or to Bethel Lutheran Church in Ottawa. Arrangements were entrusted to Hanley-Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Earlville.
