Betty (Elizabeth) Sue Thomas, 83 of Wayne City, IL (formally of Plano IL), passed away peacefully at her home on June 13, 2021. Betty was born to Everett and Leathie Allen on June 15, 1937 in Aden, IL. Betty was married to Allen Thomas on July 2, 1966, and shortly after, resided in Plano IL for many years after up until Al's passing in 2013. Betty was owner of Betty's Country Kitchen for a few years and worked for local restaurants as well. Betty loved people and the people loved her. She made many friends, especially after being hired from The Friendly Tap, Plano IL. She continued 35+ years until her retirement in 2013. Betty was a member of The Sandwich Moose Lodge 1016. She enjoyed bowling, golfing, dancing, shopping, cooking, and the fun winter stays with her great friends to South Padre Island, TX. Oh, did they ALL fun!!! Betty loved her Chicago Cubbies. There wasn't a game that was on tv she didn't miss. Fun times at least once a year on the "party bus" into Wrigley Field with host Joe Harris and friends was a heck of a great time for Betty.
Sunday morning breakfast was a ritual for the family. She sure could cook!!! If you left hungry that was your own fault.

Betty is survived by 4 children, Peggy Withrow, Darlene (Bill) Shopinski, Eddie Shelton, Loretta Parson, 3 stepchildren, Craig (Mel) Thomas, Joel (Deb) Thomas, Jeff (Peg) Thomas, 2 sisters, many grandchildren and many great grandchildren, several nieces, and nephews.

Preceding Betty in death are her parents, husband Allen, son Gary, and 10 siblings.

Betty's wishes were to be cremated. She is laid next to her husband at the Big Rock Cemetery, Big Rock, IL.
A "Simple Celebration" of Betty's life will be at The Friendly Tap in Plano, IL on August 15, 2021 from 2-4. Please join us to share in some great memories of Betty.
