Bernerd C. “Bernie” Chapman, 82, of Earlville, IL passed away Friday, February 12, 2016 in LaSalle County Nursing Home. He was born May 20, 1933 in Seneca, IL the son of Charles and Bernice Kummer Chapman. He married Marcia Hoxsey on January 18, 1958 in Stavanger Lutheran Church rural Seneca, IL. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Earlville, and the Illinois Valley Horseman Association. Bernie farmed his entire life in the Earlville area, enjoyed his horses and the many trail rides he participated in. He was a former member of the Mendota Elks Lodge. He was a veteran of the US Army served during Korean War. But his greatest love was his family and especially spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Marcia of Earlville, one son Craig Lori Chapman of Earlville, IL, one daughter-in-law Ruthann Todd Boe Chapman of Earlville, IL, four grandchildren, Ashley Jeremy Arellano of Serena, IL, Bradley Brooke Byers Chapman of Earlville, IL, Jacey and Kelsey Chapman both of Earlville, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son Jeffrey and one brother Clarion.
Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 noon, Monday, February 15, 2016 at Immanuael Lutheran Church 415 S. East Street Earlville, IL, with Rev. Tammy S. Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in Precinct Cemetery rural Earlville with Military Honors by the Earlville American Legion. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. in the church until the time of services at noon on Monday, February 15, 2016. Arrangements were entrusted to Hanley-Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Earlville.
