Bernard J. "Jim" Donahue

Bernard J. “Jim” Donahue, Jr., 82, of Somonauk passed away Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born November 7, 1932 in LaSalle, IL, the son of Bernard J. and Elmira Collins Donahue, Sr. He married Sally Jo Halford on October 16, 1965 in Somonauk, IL. Jim was a member of Sandwich Moose Lodge, Somonauk Lions Club, VFW of Leland, and Sandwich American Legion. He was a Veteran of the US Army, serving in the Korean War. Jim loved spending winters in Texas, fishing, auctions, coaching baseball and being the time keeper at Somonauk High School. His greatest love of all was his family.

He is survived by his wife, Sally of Somonauk, IL; one daughter, Michelle Daryl Bowles Huss of Somonauk, IL; one son, Jim Amy Bradford Donahue of Somonauk, IL; one grandson, Andrew Ali Huss of Keller, TX; one granddaughter, Brieann Donahue of Plano, IL; one great granddaughter, Chelsea Huss of Keller, TX; one brother, Donald Shirley Donahue of Oglesby, IL; three sisters-in-law, Peggy Chuck Kirby of West Burlington, IA, Barbara Donahue of Lamoille, IL and Raeburn Halford of Somonauk, IL and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Tracy Jo Donahue, one brother, Gerald Donahue, one stepsister, Mary.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, November 9, 2015 at Union Congregational Church in Somonauk, with Rev. Michelle Prentice-Leslie officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Sandwich, IL. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 8, 2015 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk, IL.
