Barbara June Firkins

Barbara June Firkins, 85, of Earlville, IL, passed away Sunday, September 18, 2016 at LaSalle County Nursing Home in Ottawa, IL. She was born March 26, 1931 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Edward and Stella Gallic Rasmussen. She married Donald Firkins at her mother’s home in Earlville on March 17, 1973. Barb and her mother moved to Earlville in April of 1939 along with the Seamen family and resided on South Ottawa St. She was a member of the Earlville Presbyterian church. Both Don and Barb liked to travel including going to Canada on fishing trips, to vacationing in Texas at Corpus Cristi. Barb enjoyed cooking, collecting recipes, sewing, watching all the cooking channels on TV. She enjoyed her independence and living in her home that Don and she built.

She is survived by two nephews, and one niece , Steven Moyer of Earlville, IL and Joe Brandi Dunphy of Lacon, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one sister, Patricia Moyer.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 22, 2016 at Earlville United Presbyterian Church, with Pastor Del Keilman officiating. Burial will follow at Wyoming Township Cemetery in Paw Paw, IL. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 22, 2016 in the church until the time of service.
