Amelia Passow, 103, of Leland, IL passed away Saturday, June 25, 2011 at Jabez Elder Care in Somonauk, IL. She was born March 15, 1908 in Aurora, IL, the daughter of John and Julia (Zaha) Pinks. She married Dale L. Passow on October 23, 1937 in Somonauk. She was the oldest surviving member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Somonauk and a founding member of St. George Byzantine Catholic Church in Aurora. She was active in the Tiger Club.
She is survived by two daughters, Diana (Don) Hibberd of Hot Springs, AR and Cynthia (John) Westerman of Crete, IL; two twin granddaughters, Erin Westerman of Los Angeles, CA and Jessica Westerman of Chicago, IL; one sister, Lena Brum of Lincoln, CA and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, four brothers, John Pinks, Lewis Pinks, George Pinks and Victor Pinks and three sistes, Florence Farver, Marian Kuchmek and Julia Ludwig.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Somonauk with Rev. Dennis Heaney officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Sandwich. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk. Memorials may be directed to St. John’s Lutheran Church in Somonauk.
