Aloysius P. "Louie" Kathrein

Aloysius P. “Louie” Kathrein, 92, of Ottawa, formerly of Lake Holiday, passed away Friday, June 30, 2017. He was born October 17, 1924 in Chicago, IL, the son of Alois and Bertha Meyer Kathrein. He married Mary Ann Matheis on September 28, 1963 in Chicago, IL. Louie was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Somonauk, The Catholic War Vets Charter member since 1942, and he proudly served in the US Army during WWII.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann; eight step children; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; one sister, Marion Bretz; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 7, 2017 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Somonauk, IL with Rev. Kevin Butler officiating. Burial will follow at St. John Catholic Cemetery in Somonauk. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. on Friday, July 7, 2017 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk.
