Allen A. Vahl, 71, of Aurora, IL passed away Monday, March 10, 2014 in Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora, IL. He was born May 15, 1942 in Sandwich the son of Arthur and Viola (Lindholm) Vahl. He married Bonnie Torkelson on March 16, 1963 in Plano, IL. Allen retired after 33 years of service to Caterpillar Tractor Company in Montgomery. He was an avid fisherman, most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and camping with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Bonnie of Aurora; one daughter, Christine Ortega of Aurora, one son Steven (Randajo) Vahl of McLeansboro, IL; nine grandchildren and one on the way, Lindsay, Justin, Vanessa, Christopher, Derek, Zachary, Sierra, Elizabeth and Hunter; two great grandsons, Ethan and Evan; one sister, Marlene Carrell of Sandwich, IL; three brothers, Ray, John and Wesley Vahl and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son Bradley A. Vahl and one brother Ronnie.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, March 14, 2014 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Plano, IL with Rev. Kent Svendsen officiating. Burial will follow in Little Rock Township Cemetery in Plano. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 14, 2014 at the funeral home until the time of service.
