Allen J. Kaufman, 92, of Somonauk passed away Friday, January 5, 2024 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born May 9, 1931 in Somonauk, the son of Raymond and Helen (Klaas) Kaufman. He married Joyce Jean Kuppler on September 30, 1961 in Somonauk. Allen was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. He proudly served in the US Army in active duty during the Korean War. Allen worked for Dienst Drainage for over 40 years. He was a skilled woodworker, making beautiful keepsake furniture for his family. Allen had won ribbons at the Sandwich Fair for some of his pieces. He loved the outdoors and spent a lot of time hunting on his property. Allen’s greatest love of all was spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce; his children, Susan Whitney, Lyn (Mark) Hanson, Rebecca Anderson, and Troy Kaufman; six grandchildren, Clint Whitney, Ben Hansen, Jack Hanson, Hailey Keeton, Beau Keeton and Wyatt Kaufman; his sister, Beverly (Lyell) Bowen; his sister-in-law, Irene Kaufman; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Barbara Sherman and Anita Herzog, and two brothers, Gerald and Wayne Kaufman.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Monday, January 8, 2024 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 8, 2024 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Somonauk with Father Bernard Sehr officiating. Burial will follow at St. John Catholic Cemetery in Somonauk. Memorials may be to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Somonauk.
