Allan Edward Wold, Sr., 78, lifelong resident of Earlville, IL, passed away in the comfortable care of the staff of the LaSalle County Nursing Home on November 16, 2016.
The eldest son of Edward and Vera Ikens Wold, Allan was born on February 4, 1938 in Ottawa, IL. He graduated from Earlville High School in 1956. Following high school, he attended Beloit College and Northern Illinois University, where he earned a Master’s Degree in Business Administration in 1962. He served in the United States Army and was part of the Second Armored Division’s participation in Operation Big Lift to Berlin in 1963. After his service, he worked at Lik-Wid-Flo, Inc. until 2004. A long-time member of the Earlville Lion’s Club, he served in many roles in the local club and District 1-K. He also served St. Theresa’s Catholic Church as lector and eucharistic minister.
He married his wife, Paula Winger of Chicago, Illinois, on July 24, 1965 at St. Christina’s Catholic Church in Chicago. In addition to his wife, survivors include three sons: Allan Jr., James “Bo”, and Mark; a daughter: Kirsten Patrick Sweeney; five grandchildren: Tabitha, Jake, and Blake Wold; and Brennan and Davis Sweeney; and a brother Richard Nancy Wold and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Memorial Mass for family and friends will be held at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Earlville on Saturday, December 3, at 11:00 am. with Father Peter Pilon officating. Burial of Allan\s urn will follow in St. Theresa Catholic Cemetery, Earlville. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 3, 2016 in the church until the time of Mass at 11:00. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Earlville Lion’s Club for their Helping Hands fund or St. Theresa’s Catholic Church.
