Alice Mae Schnabel, 80, of Shabbona, IL passed away Monday, December 2, 2013 at Prairie Crossings Living and Rehabilitation Center in Shabbona. She was born April 30, 1933 in Plano, IL the daughter of Carl and Edith (Gillam) Swanson. Alice was a loving mother and grandmother. She loved nature and animals.
She is survived by six daughters, Laura (Larry) Allen of Sandwich, IL, Kathryn (John) Bertaccini of Marietta, GA, Deborah (Shirley Arnolde) Schnabel of McAllen, TX, Margaret (Richard) Speake of Sandwich, IL, Lisa (Paul) Johnson of Sandwich, IL and Erica (Phil Lutfy) Schnabel of Villa Park, IL; one son, William (Joanne) Schnabel of Sheridan, IL; twenty-two grandchildren; twenty-six great grandchildren; one brother, Robert Swanson of Sandwich, IL and the father of her children, William J. Schnabel of Donna, TX.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four children, Carl Schnabel, Mary Schnabel, Gary Schnabel and Mark Schnabel, one sister, Frances Bridgewater, two brothers, Carl and David Swanson.
Memorial services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk, IL. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association.
