Alfred R. Demien, 90 years old, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2010 at Provena Mercy Center surrounded by his loving family. Al was born in Elgin, IL, on December 14, 1919. He moved to Aurora, IL, and met Ruth Leaf and after a 6 week courtship, they were married on October 4, 1941 at Grace Lutheran Church and just celebrated their 68th anniversary.

Al was a proud Veteran of WWII in the U.S. Army. He worked for Illinois Bell as a supervisor for 38 years. He was a member of Illinois Bell Pioneers and Loyal Order of the Moose.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth of Yorkville; three children, Alfred C. Demien of Shell Lake, WI, Martha (Lester) Johnson of Kennesaw, GA, and Sue (Roger) Greer of Aurora, IL. He will deeply be missed by his grandchildren, Kelly Johnson, Joel (Michelle) Johnson, Ryan (Cindy) Greer, Randy (Tara) Greer, Analisa Greer, and Mary (Ron) Woodworth. He also leaves behind ten great-grandchildren, Christopher and Cassidy Molinaro, Patrick Johnson, Nicholas, Maxwell, and Rylinn Greer, Krista, Adam, and Andrew Greer, and Trevor and Benjamin Woodworth. Alfred taught them all the love of life and woodworking in his workshop in the basement. They will miss him terribly.

He was preceded in death by parents, Alfred and Thyra Demien and a brother Forest Demien.
