Alan E. Ehrhart, 86, formerly of Leland, Illinois passed away Thursday, November 29, 2012 at Shabbona Health Care Center in Shabbona. He was born July 27, 1926 in Aurora, IL the son of Roman and Gertrude (Johnson) Ehrhart. Alan grew up in the Naperville area and attended school there. He married Elizabeth Claassen on April 3, 1948 in Aurora. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Somonauk, he was a church usher for over 50 years, Victor Township Road Commissioner for 35 years. Alan was a farmer in the Southern Wisconsin and Leland area most of his life. He also was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Sandwich Moose Lodge # 1016. Alan loved and enjoyed his family and many friends.

He is survived by four children, Diana (Phillip) Bird of Harvard, IL, James (Roberta) Ehrhart of Kansasville, WI, Donna (J.C.) Linthicum of Aurora, IL and Scott (Natali) Ehrhart of Somonauk, IL; 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren; three sisters, Lois Nickels of Aurora, IL, Nancy (Ed) Edquist of Kenosha, WI and Karen Hansen of Richland, MO; one brother, Kenneth (Darlene)Ehrhart of Union Grove, WI and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Elizabeth, and one brother Gerald Ehrhart.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, December 3, 2012 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Somonauk, IL with Father Thomas Brantman officiating. Burial will follow in St. John Catholic Cemetery rural Somonauk. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m., Sunday, December 2, 2012 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk, IL, with a prayer service at 5:30 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the wishes of the family.
