Ruth G. Benson Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Ruth G. Benson, 84, of Leland, IL. passed away Thursday, November 11, 2021 at Seasons Hospice in Naperville, IL. She was born July 18, 1937 in Waterman, IL. the daughter of Omer and Serena (Egland) Tuftee. She married Roger “Jim” Benson on May 20, 1961 at St. Petrie Lutheran Church in Baker, IL. She was a member of St. Petrie Lutheran Church in Baker, IL. where she played the organ and taught Sunday school as well as vacation bible school. After graduating from Earlville High School, she attended Lutheran Deaconess School of Nursing in Chicago, IL. Ruth was a registered nurse at Sandwich Hospital for 40 years. Most of all Ruth enjoyed spending time with her family. She is survived by one daughter, Kara (Brad) Temple of Serena, IL.; one son, Paul (Juliet Gilmore) Benson of Rockford, IL.; two grandsons, Bryan (Carolann) Temple of Leland, IL. and Ben (Jenna McNelis) Temple of Oglesby, IL.; one sister, Pearl Merritt of Normal, IL., along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jim, two brothers, Dr. Alan Tuftee and Howard Tuftee and one nephew, Steve Merritt. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at St. Petrie Lutheran Church in Baker, IL, with Reverend Gerald Steele officiating. Burial will follow at Leland Cemetery in Leland, IL. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at the church.
