Kathleen Elizabeth Freund, 84, of Plano, IL and Fort Myers Beach, FL passed away Friday, July 5, 2013 at Hillside Rehabilitation and Care Center in Yorkville. She was born February 2, 1929 in Atchison, KS the daughter of Henry and Catherine (Seeger) Baker. She married Kenneth B. Freund on June 12, 1954 in Atchison, KS. Kathleen was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Plano, IL and the Salvation Army in Fort Myer, FL where she made Christmas stockings for the children. She enjoyed bingo, playing bridge, watching the Bears and was a fantastic cook. Kathleen looked forward to her coffee clutch with the ladies at various restaurants. Kenneth and Kathleen enjoyed spending the winter months with their many friends at Bayside Estates in Fort Myers Beach, FL.
She is survived by one daughter, Kathleen (Rich) Schiradelly of Plano, IL; one special grandson, Nicholas Schiradelly of Plano, IL; four sisters, Charlotte Chase of Walnut Creek, CA, Mary Alice Snyder of Topeka, Helen Wright of Des Moines, IA and Colette Mayse of Mission; five brothers, Al Baker of Tulsa, OK, Ray Baker of Annapolis, MD, Maurice Baker of Oskaloosa, IA, Frank Baker of Kansas City, KS and Richard Baker of Arvada, CO; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Kenneth, one son Kevin G. Freund, three brothers, Gerard H. Baker, Martin J. Baker and Thomas H. Baker.
Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 12, 2013 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Plano with Father Michael Callea officiating. Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Bristol, IL. A luncheon will follow at Plano American Legion Hall.
