Karol June Dewey Born: April 3rd, 1938 Died: February 11th, 2021 Karol J. Dewey, age 82 of Sycamore, passed away peacefully in her home, on Thursday, February 11th, 2021, surrounded by her family. Karol was born at the Sandwich Memorial Hospital, to parents Lawrence H. Miller and Margaret (Babe) Montague, of Leland, IL. She graduated from Leland High School, Class of 1956. She married Bennie F. Dewey Jr. on November 7th 1959 at the Leland Methodist Church. They moved to Dekalb in 1959 and then to Sycamore in 1960 thru 1998. They Then built a home in Creston, IL and resided there for seventeen years, before returning back to sycamore in 2015. Karol retired from the Dekalb County Rehab and Nursing Center activities department in 2005. She loved to entertain her many friends with coffee and dessert, after playing cards or Mexican train. Karol always enjoyed a good party, and driving her many convertibles. Music was a big part of her life, especially country and bluegrass. She enjoyed going to the festivals and jam sessions, and meeting with all her friends. Karol was a huge fan of the Basically Bluegrass Band (B3), and her favorite song was Red Hen Boogie, sung by Steven Sarver. Karol served the lord through bible studies and was a member of the Creston IL Methodist Church for seventeen years. She is survived and will be greatly missed by her husband Ben and her son Brad Dewey of Sycamore, her daughter Kelli Liebl of Dekalb, and her two grandchildren Alysha Dewey of Harriman TN, and Petty officer 2nd class Brice Liebl U.S.C.G. of Elizabeth City, NC, and her cat Pooh. There will be a celebration of life, set at a later date. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, or Heartland Hospice. Burial will take place at the Leland Cemetery, Leland IL. The family would like to thank the staff of Heartland Hospice, for there great care. Cremation rites were entrusted to Turner-Eighner Funeral Home.
