Janet Ruth Fanning

Janet Ruth Fanning, 88, of Sandwich, more recently of Naperville, passed away peacefully Sunday, January 16, 2022 at StoryPoint Senior Living in Naperville, IL surrounded by her loving family. She was born November 25, 1933 in Sandwich the daughter of S. Darrell Wesson and Gladys P. Cortright. She married Edward “Duke” Fanning on September 3, 1952 in Sandwich. Janet was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. She loved her hometown of Sandwich where she made lifelong friends. Her greatest love was her family. 　She is survived by her children, Mark (Diane Germaine) Fanning of Glen Ellyn, IL and their children, Ryan (Heather) and Molly (Justin) Mamula; Nancy (Charles) Knight of Crystal Lake, IL and their children, Major Joseph of the US Army, Thomas (Elizabeth), and Kathryn Hamilton; Judy (Craig) James of Arvada, CO and their children, Mietra (Luke) Mott and Sadie; Diane (Brian) Moore of Naperville, IL and their children, Meghan and Cpl. Jack USMC (Bailey); Amy (Michael) Weger of Bloomington, IN and their children, Max, Sam and Colin; 9 great grandchildren; Brother D. Lynn (Jane) Wesson of Sandwich, IL. 　She was preceded in death by her husband of over 60 years, Duke, her parents, and her brother S. Dexter (Sharon) Wesson. 　Funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, January 21, 2022 at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church 340 W. Arnold Street in Sandwich, IL with Father Bernard Sehr officiating. Burial will follow in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Somonauk. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM on Friday, January 21, 2022 at the church.
