James L. Shazer

James L. Shazer, 91, of Peru, formerly of Aurora, IL, passed away Sunday, July 15, 2018 at Heritage Health in Peru. He was born July 12, 1927 in Uniontwn, PA, the son of Albert and Martha (Huey) Shazer. James graduated from Uniontown High School on May 29, 1945. He was employed by Richards-Wilcox for over 25 years. James volunteered his time at Waubonsee Community College, teaching English to Spanish speaking students. He loved to sing and would everywhere he went, delighting everyone in ear shot. James was a huge hometown sports fan, especially The Cubs. Everyone he met found a fast friend; he will be deeply missed.

He is survived by one sister, Eva Mason of DeFuniak Springs, FL; half-brother, Alan Shazer of Uniontown, PA.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Gladys Myers and Marjorie Shazer; his brothers, William Shazer, and Paul Shazer.

In accordance with James’ wishes, there will be no services. James always wanted to see people grow and learn; to continue assisting people with education, Jim decided to donate his remains to science.
