Burdette Wayne Hill, 75, of Sandwich passed away Sunday, June 15, 2014 in Sandwich Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Sandwich. He was born June 20, 1938 in Moline, IL the son of Russell and Stella (Tuntland) Hill. He married Nancy Stein on October 5, 1985 in Sandwich. Wayne enjoyed Bingo, painting and reminiscing about his farm life in Leland. He worked at the Open Door Rehabilitation Workshop and that is where he met his wife, Nancy.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy of Sandwich, IL; his in-laws, Cliff and Betty Hair of Hot Springs, AR; two sisters-in-law, Susan Ziegler of Yorkville, IL and Sally Casasanto of Geneva, IL; four aunts, Greta Sinchak of Joliet, IL, Barbara Brown of Virginia, Georgia Philippe of Malden, IL and June Sharp of Earlville, IL and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three uncles, Donald Hill, John Hill and Edwin Tuntland, one aunt, Betty Kambic.
Memorial services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at Burkhart-Eighner Funeral Home in Sandwich. Burial will be private. A time to visit will be from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to Open Door Rehabilitation Center.
