Betty Mertens Allen, 85, of St. Louis, Missouri passed away Monday, January 17, 2022 in Symphony of Orchard Valley Nursing Home in Aurora, IL. She was born February 5, 1936 in St. Louis, MO the daughter of Frank and Lucille (Harmon) Mertens. She married William Edward Allen on November 17, 1956 in St. Louis, MO. She worked as an Administrative Assistant for several years. She loved her family and grandchildren. She was an avid reader, loved plants, and loved to travel. Most of all she loved spending time on the beach in Florida. She was a woman of great faith and loved the Lord. She is survived by two daughters, Laura Allen of Colorado Springs, CO. and Nancy (Bob) Reichert of Yorkville, IL; three grandchildren, Ashley (Genaro) Cabrera, Bobby Reichert, and Andrew Reichert; She was preceded in death by her husband, and her parents. Cremation was handled by Turner-Eighner-Funeral Home in Plano, IL. Internment of her urn will be next to her husband in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO., with a service at a later date. Memorials may be directed to Disabled Veteran’s Fund.
