In Loving Memory of John Mosher Holdeman.
With heavy hearts, we bid farewell to John Holdeman, a beloved father, brother, and friend, who passed away peacefully on March 18, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and laughter. His beloved daughter, Marjorie Elizabeth Holdeman, sadly predeceased him. He is survived by his loving children, William Douglas Holdeman and Lauren Jean-Marie Holdeman, his brother & partner Charles Holdeman and Margaret Darby, and his four grandchildren Aryanna & Alayah Holdeman, and Camari & Camyia Woods.
He was born with an empathetic heart and a smile that could light up a room. His friends knew him as a compassionate man, supporting those in need, whether they were sick, just needing a helping hand or an ear to listen. His distinctive laugh was contagious, always putting a smile on the face of those who had the privilege of knowing him. From Sandwich, IL to Fort Wayne, IN, he cultivated deep and meaningful friendships and will forever be remembered by many.
A man of simple pleasures, John found joy in yearly road trip adventures with William that spanned over two decades, traversing 40 states across the continental USA. He was also a fan of sports, some of his favorites including college basketball and football… Go Purdue!
John was a loving father imparting invaluable lessons to his children during his life to help them navigate challenges with integrity, wisdom, honesty, and respect. His children deeply miss him and he will forever be cherished and remembered in their hearts for the lessons and love he provided them throughout their life.
As we mourn the loss of John Holdeman, we take solace in knowing that his spirit will live on in the memories he created, the laughter he shared, and the love he gave to his family and friends. Though he may no longer be with us in body, his legacy of kindness and compassion will continue to inspire and uplift us for years to come.
A memorial service will be held on April 13, 2024, at Oak Ridge Cemetery, in Sandwich, IL at 11AM. In honoring John's memory, let us carry forward his legacy of love and generosity, spreading kindness wherever we go, and keeping alive the spirit of laughter.
Rest in peace, dear John. You will be deeply missed, but your spirit will forever shine bright in our hearts.
