Robert A. "Rob" Aschinger

Robert A. “Rob” Aschinger, 43, of Leland, IL passed away Friday, August 20, 2010 at Rush Copley Medical Center in Aurora, IL following a life long illness of Crohn‘s disease. He was born October 11, 1966 in Ottawa, IL, the son of Edward R. and Delores J. (Gebhardt) Aschinger. He was a 1984 graduate of Leland High School. He was formerly employed by Lyon Metal in Montgomery for 19 years and he owned Rob’s Lawn Care. Rob enjoyed the outdoors and work, helping others and spending time with his niece, nephew and his friends. In his younger years, he enjoyed spending time on the farm at his grandparents’ homestead south of Ottawa.

He is survived by his mother and step father, Delores (Wayne) Gunderson of Leland; his father, Edward Aschinger of FL; one sister, Teri (Richard) Dunshee of Mediapolis, IA; one niece, Jacqueline Dunshee and one nephew, Spencer Dunshee; his maternal grandfather, William F. Gebhardt of Ottawa, IL and his paternal grandmother, Eunice Aschinger of FL and aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by maternal grandmother, Jean Gebhardt and paternal grandfather, Edward Aschinger.

A memorial service will be held 6:00 p.m. Friday, August 27, 2010 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk with Pastor Gerald Steele officiating. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. on Friday, August 27, 2010 until the time of service at 6:00 at the funeral home. Burial will be private. Memorials may be directed to the family.
