Mavis Irene Carr Legner, 87, of Sandwich, IL passed away, Monday, January 16, 2012 at her residence in Sandwich. She was born October 13, 1924 in Somonauk, IL the daughter of Harold and Elsie (Goldman) Carr. She married William F. Legner on November 22, 1947 in Sandwich, IL. She was a member of Federated Church of Sandwich, American Legion Auxilary and was a loving mother and grandmother.
She is survived by one daughter, Linda (Gene) Shumway of Sandwich, IL; two sons, Lindsay (Kathleen) Legner of Sandwich, IL and Lee Legner of Leland, IL; five grandchildren, Wendy (Troy) Ohlson of Somonauk, IL and their children, Austin, Clayton, Dylan and Baylee; Regina (JD) Mello of West Port, CT and their children, Jaden and Jack; Tage (Lisa Ness) Shumway of Sandwich, IL: Kimbria (Jeff Ralls) Shumway of San Francisco, CA and Bret (Jamie Campbell) Shumway of Sandwich, IL and their child Tristan; which is seven great grandchildren: one sister, Darlene (Jack) Duvick of Tipton, IN.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers, Gleason and Wilbur Carr.
Graveside services were held on Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Sandwich, IL with Reverend Kenneth Ritchie officiating. Memorial services will be held at The Federated Church 403 .Main St. Sandwich, IL, at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 21, 2012 with Visitation to follow the service. Memorials may be directed to the charity of one’s choice.
