Laura B. Pilkinton

Laura Belle Pilkinton, 79, of Sandwich, IL, passed away Sunday, September 1, 2024, at Pavilion on Main. She was born September 25, 1944, in Swifton, AR, the daughter of Lee Roy and Dorothy Mae (Wingo) Burgess. She married James Lee Pilkinton on November 4, 1962, in Tuckerman, AR. Laura attended and was Baptized at Harvest Chapel in Sandwich, IL. One of Laura’s happiest places was outside, in the sun working in the yard or on her flower beds, and enjoying nature’s beauty. She had a huge heart of gold, wanted to help whoever, however she could. Laura was proud of her family and loved spending time with each every one of them, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Jimmy; her children, Cynthia (Robert) Meeker, James “Bo” (Donna) Pilkinton, and Michael (Vicki) Pilkinton; her grandchildren, Travis (Jessica), Brittany (Chris), Jimbo, Katie, Emily, Alex (Leah), Sarah (Brandon), Alyssa, Paige (Brandon), Rachael, Morgan Lyn (Jimmy), and Amber Lyn; her 16 great grandchildren; her sister, Dorothy Christian; a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family that she loved dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Charlene Perkins, Jeanine Kinder, and Martha (Lloyd “Cowboy”) Campbell, her brother Junior. Lee, and her granddaughter, Crystal Lynne Meeker.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon on Friday, September 6, 2024, at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk, IL. A Funeral Service will follow at 12:00 noon on Friday, September 6, 2024, at the funeral home in Somonauk. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
