John H. “Swanie” Swanson, 81, of Sandwich, IL passed away, Friday, August 25, 2017 at Valley West Hospital in Sandwich. He was born March 31, 1936 in Sandwich, IL the son of John and Harriett Thompson Swanson. He married Beth M. Denault on November 26, 1977 in Plano, IL. He was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Sandwich, The Sandwich Historical Society, former member of the Sandwich Lions Club. John was a member of Illinois and Indiana Auctioneers Association, The National Auctioneers Association. Swanie worked in Sandwich area as an Auctioneer, owned and operated Mid Central Motors in Sandwich, doing body repair and auto sales for years.
He is survived by his wife Beth of Sandwich, one son, John H. Swanson, Jr. of Rockford, IL, several nieces, nephews, cousins and his beloved dog Buddy.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Eleanor Thomas.
Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church 340 West Arnold Road in Sandwich, IL with Father Bernie Sehr officiating. Burial will follow in St. John Catholic Cemetery rural Somonauk, IL. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 in the church until the time of Mass.
