David G. Swanson

David G. Swanson, 86, of Plano, IL passed away, Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at Rush Copley Medical Center in Aurora, IL. He was born November 23, 1924 in Hinckley, IL, the son of Carl and Edith Gillam Swanson. He married Helen M. Schnabel on February 25, 1950 in Naperville, IL. He was a Veteran of the United States Army serving during WWII. David was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church for many years, where he was active in the Holy Name Society and was an usher. He was a member of the Plano Lions Club, American Legion Post #395. David farmed for many years in the Plano area and later owned D.Swanson Plumbing and Heating.

He is survived by his wife, Helen of 61 years; two daughters, Robin (Rick) Johns and Bernadine Rolf both of Plano; one son, David (Kim) Swanson of Montgomery, IL; eight grandchildren, several great grandchildren; one brother, Robert Swanson of Sandwich; one sister, Alice Schnabel of Shabbona and several nieces and nephews.

David was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Gerald David Swanson; one brother, Carl Swanson Jr., and one sister, Frances Bridgewater.
